Splinter Seed embodies the very best of eco-conscious design. Conceived in 2010 by Dutch designer Sander Bakker, Splinter Seed creates products that are both inspired by and respectful of nature by seamlessly integrating high design with low impact processes. Sander's work blends elements of both parametric and algorithmic design, which occurs when seemingly simple building blocks (like the petals on a flower or ice-crystals in a snowflake) are repeated to create complexly beautiful forms .
The result is literally enlightening...
The concept of growth is key in the aesthetic that we pursue. It is the aesthetic of nature; the processes that underly the formation of nature’s complex shapes like plants growing and clouds forming that are fundamental in our approach to design.
